The ACT Government has let down the Canberra community again with delays to the opening of the Bimberi Youth Centre, said Alistair Coe, Shadow Minister for Youth.
Despite the “official” opening of the Bimberi Youth Centre in September 2008, the facility is yet to take any residents.
“Either the government deceived the community with a sham opening when the centre wasn’t ready, or the project is in shambles,” Mr Coe said.
“The Stanhope Government was more interested in election media stunts than in delivering the project on time.
“It is unacceptable that one of the most expensive prisons in the country is still not open.
“There are systemic problems throughout the ACT Government that have led to repeated project bungling and delays.
“The taxpayer repeatedly pays for ministerial incompetence – Stanhope Government Ministers are happy take responsibility for successes but refuse to take responsibility for their failures.”
