Alistair is the Leader of the of the ACT Opposition and is the Shadow Treasurer, Shadow Minister for Economic Development, and Shadow Minister for Innovation.
Alistair is married to Yasmin and they have two children.
Alistair believes in efficient and accountable government. This means that governments must use the best evidence available to make decisions. Alistair also believes that governments have a responsibility to ensure that their decisions and processes are easily reviewed and understood. Alistair has a keen interest in the delivery of infrastructure and ensuring that our investments today will be of maximum benefit to current and future generations.
Alistair was born at the Royal Canberra Hospital and went to primary and secondary school in Tuggeranong and Belconnen. He then completed a Bachelor of Commerce at the Australian National University.
Prior to his election, Alistair worked as an Adviser at the National Headquarters of the Returned and Services League of Australia. He has also worked in small engineering and security consultancy focusing on the domestic aspects of national security.
Alistair was elected to the Assembly on 18 October 2008 and is the 57th person to serve in the Assembly since it was formed in 1989. Alistair delivered his maiden speech to the Assembly on 9 December 2008. The text of that speech is available here.
