Alistair Coe MLA
Liberal Member for Ginninderra which currently includes all the suburbs of Belconnen; the Gungahlin suburbs of Nicholls, Palmerston and Crace; and the village of Hall.
As of Febraury 2013, Alistair is the Deputy Leader of the Opposition and holds the shadow portfolios of Urban Services; Planning & Infrastructure; Transport; Environment, Housing and Heritage.
Alistair stands for small government, freedom of the individual, families and the promotion of private enterprise.
Alistair is a true Canberran: he was born at the Royal Canberra Hospital and went to primary and secondary school in Tuggeranong and Belconnen. He then completed a Bachelor of Commerce at the Australian National University. Aside from a year spent in the United Kingdom and the United States, Alistair has spent his whole life in Canberra and takes great pride in our national capital.
Prior to his election, Alistair worked as an Adviser at the National Headquarters of the Returned and Services League of Australia. He has also worked for a private research centre that studied the domestic aspects of national security.
Alistair was elected to the Assembly on 18 October 2008 and is the 57th person to serve in the Assembly since it was formed in 1989. Alistair delivered his maiden speech to the Assembly on 9 December 2008. The text of that speech is available here.
