Member for Ginninderra Alistair Coe is encouraging all Canberrans to make a donation to the 2012 Anglicare Winter Pantry Appeal at Westfield Belconnen this week. Mr Coe said the Appeal supports those who are finding it difficult to afford basic necessities including food.
“Since the beginning of last year, there has been a 15 per cent increase in the number of Canberrans calling on Anglicare for support,” Mr Coe said.
“With cold winter temperatures fast approaching and cost of living prices soaring, it is not surprising there has been a spike in demand for food and financial assistance in the ACT.
“On Thursday I will be volunteering at the food collection point at Westfield Belconnen and I’m urging all Canberrans to give what they can to those in need.
“All food donations go to emergency relief centres around Canberra,” Mr Coe concluded.
